Chenango County Habitat for Humanity offers "a hand up, not a handout", and one of the ways they achieve this is by fundraising. The activities and special events, such as the Red Carnation sales, the Skillet Toss, chicken barbecues, yard sales, raffles for concert tickets or quilts, the Norwich Pumpkin Fest sketeball golf game, and music concerts help to raise much needed capital to support their housing projects. These benefits are fun to be involved with, create a lot of good will, and raise the awareness about Habitat's great efforts.

Donate

If you like to make a monetary donation to help us with our mission of improving housing for the residents of Chenango County, you can mail it to us at: PO Box 161, Guilford, NY 13780.  Please make checks payable to Chenango County Habitat for Humanity.

Do you have an old car, truck, motorcycle, recreational vehicle, boat, snowmobile, farm equipment or construction equipment? You can donate it Here.

We also sponsor a St.Pauly Used Clothing shed. They accept used clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, linens, pillowcases, blankets, curtains, and stuffed animals. Donations are then purchased from us by St. Pauly Textile Inc. Clothing dropped off at our shed, which is located inn the south parking lot of the Unadilla Valley Central School, is then distributed to people all over the world.

For other donations, you can contact us.

Yard Sales

Over the past few years, CCHH as held an annual yard sale during the summer to help raise funds for our work. This has been a very successful endeavor but involves a great deal of time and effort to set up. If you'd like to help with our next sale you can contact Audrey at 607-843-6249 or just fill out one of our volunteer forms by clicking here. Any help is always greatly appreciated.

2012 was the first ever CCHH Habitat Souper Bowl, held on March 31, at the VFW in Norwich, NY. Lots of people came to taste many great soups and breads; participated in the "Chinese Auction" and the 50-50 raffle; purchased bake sale items; and enjoyed the free live music. Three beautiful, hand crafted awards were given to chefs for best soups as per the "People's Choice" votes.

At a new location: the Family YMCA in Norwich, NY, the tremendously successful CCHH Souper Bowl, with soup tastings from dozens of restaurants, raffles, live music and more returned annually in mid-March (2013 & 2014) from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

In 2015, due to several issues beyond their control, CCHH held a scaled-down, mini version of the Souper Bowl on March 14. They had a smaller offering of soup that was for sale, and they still had the bake sale, raffles, and Chinese Auction.

The 2016 Souper Bowl was back at the YMCA and it was big and delicious! There were 30 soups to taste and an equal number of baskets in the auction. Everyone had a great time!

We hope to resume this fund raiser after the pandemic.

Benefit Dinners

In 2011, CCHH partnered with St. Paul's Episcopal Church Outreach Committee in Oxford, NY, for the first CCHH Fall Dinner. This ham dinner, with live music and a Chinese Auction, was held on November 12, 2011, in St. Paul’s Parish House, 32 Main Street,Oxford, NY.

Your support of these events help Habitat make dreams come true by helping to provide decent, affordable housing to families in Chenango County, New York.

These have also been put on hold due to the pandemic.

Bottle and Can Redemption

One of our smaller but steadiest sources of income ( besides our mortgages ) is our Bottle and Can Bin located on County Rd 44 ( Country Club Rd ) just outside Norwich. Those nickels add up! You can also drop off your refundable bottles and cans at Riverside Redemption Center and just tell them they are for Chenango County Habitat.
